We love slow travel a lot and since we’ve discovered the beauty of housesitting we can enjoy it even more. In fact, if we are lucky enough to find a nice housesitting assignment, we can stay long enough in a place to live like the locals do and really get to know the area. It helps us to recharge our batteries, plus not always exhausted from constantly moving from one place to the other, we only wished we’d started housesitting earlier.
Another thing we absolutely adore is having the chance to also look after pets, in fact if there is one thing we miss a lot since we have been two travel nomads it’s having our own pets to cuddle, to feed and to simply relax with. Call us selfish but we really miss the love we get from pets, no matter if it’s a cat, a dog, a hamster or a rabbit. I’ve personally always had pets since I was a little girl, both cats and dogs, so not having any at all really makes a difference.

It’s nice indeed having some cute furry friends whilst housesitting and at the same time it’s heartbreaking having to leave them after we get to know each other and the pets get used to us. When we move on and get back travelling, we often think of “our” temporary pets that we’ve left behind, how they might be doing and if they would recognize us in the future, it’s difficult to say.
Anyway if you are an animal lover you might enjoy the following cute photos of some of the pets we looked after whilst housistting.
