Whilst in Japan we noticed that the candy bar Kit Kat was one of the most popular snacks and confectionery treats and was sold in almost every shop. What surprised us the most was the amount of different flavors available and some of them were completely odd and unusual for Europeans like us. It was a really interesting first or many interactions with the differences of Japanese.
We found really bizarre Kit Kat bars that in some way are an homage to specific and unique Japanese foods. You can really find crazy flavors, just name it: from soy bean, grilled potato, matcha milk, cherry blossoms (yes, it’s there too!), apricot seeds, green tea, mango, red bean paste, salty watermelon, jasmine tea, baby pumpkin, citrus blend, wasabi, red bean sandwich (that’s incredibly weird!) and more, we were simply amazed by the variety of kit kat bars!
