Following research, we loved what we saw about Hotel Market and asked to drop by to take some shots. They were kind enough to provide us with accommodation, however all thoughts and opinions are – as always – formed independently and without agreement to be favourable.
Deep in the centre of the octagonal blocks that form the grid pattern of Barcelona’s instantly recognisable Eixample district lies a hotel with art and design on its mind, looking to provide visitors to Barcelona with somewhere to spend a night that contains the same feeling of living art inside as you’d find from walking the streets.
Hotel Market & Restaurant is located less than a stone throw away from the market of which the hotel takes as the inspiration for it’s name – Mercat de Sant Antoni – and after checking in to our room we found that the location of the hotel was pretty much central to everything we wanted to see and do in the city.
Nothing is far away. Work by Gaudi is no more than a stroll away, the tourist-full walk of La Rambla is only a ten minute walk away and one of our favourite areas of the city – the multicultural neighbourhood called Raval – is again, just a short walk away.
Hotel & Restaurant
Not only a hotel, the bottom floor of the building is a restaurant and bar that is open for use by not only people staying in one of the many splendid rooms above, but also to members of the public.
Open throughout the day for lunch or dinner, the restaurant floor of the hotel is a stylish affair where you’ll find a delicious selection of local Catalan-style food with a modern twist, with a multitude of options and wines of all colours and ages to sample along side your dish.
The restaurant is also where you’ll be enjoying your breakfast in the morning as we took great pleasure in doing during our time there, and the lighting paired with the interior design lend a easy mood to your start to the day and your activity-heavy day of exploring Barcelona.
Our favourite part of the bottom floor however, has to be Bar Rosso, the warm and inviting side room where we would have spent our entire night had we not already some pre-arranged plans for our time.
The lighting, the decoration, the furniture; all lend themselves to creating a space where you can sip a local Spanish wine as the night grows dark and the bar fills with locals through the night in typical Spanish fashion.
Minimal, Yet Full Of Colour
Probably the icing on the cake of a great location and even greater design; up to our floor and our bedroom was a masterpiece of minimalism with a splash of colour.
This double room was the perfect amount of space for the two of us and it felt much like our own little isle of paradise up that we could return to.
Calming, yet exciting with elements of colour around the room; the room has everything you might need, not forgetting the huge ‘rain’ shower in the adjoining bathroom.
The few colourful design points that are scattered around the room are stunning and we really loved each one of them, whether it was the bright set of drawers in the room, or the fantastic paintings.

As we mentioned, Hotel Market is a great design location that we heartily recommend to everyone heading to Barcelona for it’s well thought out interior design, great selection of food available and the eager to satisfy team who took care of our every need during our stay. Not forgetting that the area it’s located in is perfect should you wish to walk or take transport to one of the many places to visit in the city.
