Weekend Photo Theme is a weekly photography article where Dale or Franca choose a theme, select 5 pictures to sum that theme up & tie them together with their interests of Architecture, Art, Design & Travel.

As the former capital of Japan, Kyoto is full of the old traditional mystic that many will associate with the old style of Japan, and during our three days in the city back in 2012 we really got a feel for that in certain parts of the city. For example, our Couchsurfing host lived in a classic Japanese wooden house with the screen doors that you’re probably imagining already.

The only downside that we’d say about Kyoto is that it’s one of the busiest in terms of tourist numbers that we’ve seen during our two years of travel, but if you go off-peak season then we’re sure that you’ll love this incredibly interesting city.
