Our Packing List - Second Attempt

Prior to our leaving Italy in August 2012, we both thought it would be a prudent use of our time to re-examine both of our backpacks to reduce the overweight feeling we’d been getting on our shoulders on the trip so far.

Admittedly, some of the extra clothes we brought along with us were intended just for use during our short-term stay in Alberobello, ITALIAN/Franca’s hometown. Shorts, vests & my England shirt (suitable whilst we were watching the EURO 2012 Championships) were among a short pile to be discarded.

So with it whittled down a little more, here’s a brief summary of what’s coming along (including tummy-filling snacks!):

All of the above clothes are separated between three packing cubes each for ease of organisation, reduction of space & speed of packing.

All electronics cables have been given individual velcro straps to reduce the space they take individually & have also been given their own waterproof protection bags which, apart from the obvious, reduces the clutter inside of our bags.

Obviously, this doesn’t include the layers we’ve chosen to wear for the forthcoming days just to lighten the load of our packing list

With our backpacks we have the added bonus of having a detachable ‘Day Bag’ which has total size of about 10L – perfect for a walk in the city. However, the biggest bonus must be the ability to detach the Day Bag from the main pack & reattach it to the front thereby balancing some of the weight, but at the same time making us look like British Army Commandos. Is this the beginning of the training? Great!

We can already see that our second attempt won’t be the last time we repack & re-evaluate our packing list, but it’s interesting to see what’s already getting left behind.

Obviously everyone packs to their own levels of comfort & need, but maybe you can find some inspiration from ours. We hope so.

What could you not possibly travel without?
