Weekend Photo Theme is a weekly photography article where Dale or Franca choose a theme, select 5 pictures to sum that theme up & tie them together with their interests of Architecture, Art, Design & Travel.

During our time in Japan back in 2012, we spent many occasions during our month in the country visiting temples, but the visit the Ryūshaku-ji Temple in the small valley village of Yamadera presented us with a temple a little different.

Ryūshaku-ji Temple sits at the top of the ridge of hills that lines the valley and it takes 1015 steps to reach the top and making your way to the temple at the summit is quite the achievement for many people who travel from all over Japan to do so.

Here are just a few pictures of our walk from bottom to the top.
